Huairou Biographies: Elizaveta BozhkovaA member of Huairou’s strategic planning committee 2003, Ms. Bozhkova is director of Information Center of Independent Women’s Foundation (ICIWF) of Russia, a support infrastructure for a networks of information centers “orienting themselves to the ideas of feminism.” A physicist by profession, she has been an activist on women’s issues since 1985. She has participated in the UN Women and Habitat Conferences, is a current coordinator of the Association of Independent women’s Organizations, a participant in KARAT, a network of Eastern European and Russian NGOS. She chairs Huairou’s OUR Best Practices Task Force represents the HC on the Steering Committee of the UN Habitat Best Practices Program is founder of the Grassroots Women’s International Academy and co-author of several Huairou publications. She is the founder of the mother center movement that originated in Germany and has spread into 15 countries. She chairs the newly established Mother Center International Network for Empowerment (MINE). KolinskaA member of Huairou’s strategic planning committee for 2003, Ms. Kolinska has been a grassroots leader in the Huairou Commission since 2000. From the Czech Republic, she has long been an advocate of civil society. As a child, she joined her family in their practice of Christianity in spite of the social and educational penalties. As an adult and mother of five, she was a founder of the environmental group Mothers of Prague and the Czech Mother Center movement. In earlier work, she was a provincial coordinator for the South African Women's National Coalition, an initiative of the ANC Women's League, which brought together women of different political backgrounds to formulate the Women’s Charter for Effective Equality. Adopted in 1993, the charter is still the country’s working document.
