GalamaInternational Council of Women Ms. Galama joined Huairou while preparing its OUR Best Practice display for the Habitat II Conference of 1996. Today, as a representative ICW, she shares her expertise as Permanent Representative to UN-HABITAT and UN-ECEHS. MichaudWomen & Cities International Ms. Michaud has been active in the anti rape movement in Québec and Canada since the 80’s. She is the Coordinator of the Femmes et ville program of the City of Montréal since 1992. Instrumental in bringing women's perspectives on safety to bear on municipalities at the international level, she has taken part in the organizing of the first International Seminar on Women’s Safety in May 2002 in Montréal. Mwaura MuiruGROOTS International A member of the Huairou Council's Executive Committee, Ms. Mwaura-Muiri is founder and current coordinator of GROOTS Kenya, a network of over 2000 grassroots women who belong to self help groups. Through its Local to Local Dialogues project, GROOTS Kenya has created an ongoing conversation between residents of Nairobi slums, and opinion leaders, local officials, Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Lands and Settlements, National Aids Control Council and Nairobi City Council. It is enlarging an AIDS network which builds on the strengths of grassroots community caretakers. Rainero:Women & Habitat Network-Latin America and the Caribbean Ms. Rainero is the director of Argentina’s Center for Exchange and Services for the Southern Cone, (CISCSA) as well as the coordinator of the Latin America Women and Habitat Network. Teresa Rodriguez Blandon (Maite)Women & Peace Network Ms. Rodriguez has been a professional organizer for Fundacion Guatemala since 1992.
